As reported by AP News, the London-born artist can now legally embark on international journeys, and he has exciting plans to mark his first international performance right in his hometown. Savage, originally named She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, faced significant immigration challenges back in 2019 when he was detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The 30-year-old rapper spent a tense 10 days in custody at a detention center in South Georgia because his visa had expired in 2006. Joseph, who arrived in the U.S. at the age of 7, shared with AP in a 2019 interview that the visa application process can be disheartening, as it seems to loom over you indefinitely. However, the rapper can now rest easy, as he is free to travel without any worries about where and when he can go.
