A wheelchair-bound man who sued the Rochester Police Department for wrongful arrest and excessive force was awarded just $1 in damages by a federal jury. Benny Warr brought the lawsuit against the City of Rochester, former police chief James Sheppard and the three officers involved in his arrest back in 2013.
He claimed the officers violated his civil rights, and arrested him without cause while he was waiting at a bus stop. Warr was knocked out of his chair and thrown to the ground during the arrest. The incident was captured on a cell phone and shared widely on social media. Posted By Persist
