Caught On Body Cam: Arkansas Man Tasered By Cop Sues For Excessive Force!
A civil rights lawsuit has been filed in a case WREG reported on several weeks ago in which a Blytheville Police Officer is seen using a taser on a man on the 4th of July. The lawsuit claimed the officer used excessive force during the encounter. It all started when officers confronted Chardrick Mitchell at an apartment building on East Main Street. Mitchell had reportedly locked his live-in girlfriend out of their place. “If she’s living there, you can’t stop her from getting her own clothes,†the officer is heard saying. Seconds pass and the officer asks Mitchell’s name, but he refused. It was only after shooting him, he said, that the officer said he was under arrest. Harris also pointed out the police didn’t match up with the police body camera footage from the scene. The report claimed the officer told Mitchell he was under arrest before he was shot with the stun gun. Mitchell was charged with obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct and refusal to submit to arrest. Mitchell is expected to in court on August 2. The officer is also reportedly still on the force.
