"The streets of New York City have been filling up with water (and rats) amidst Hurricane Ida. 
After a summer of particularly heinous weather in New York, another round of flooding thanks to Hurricane Ida has sent the city into a spiral. When the weather turns like this, itâ€™s not uncommon to see clips on social media of the streets filling up as natives and tourists wade through the water, or take cover in random awnings as the storm passes.
 
While humans may not be particularly fond of their city being turned into a swimming pool, thereâ€™s a group of NYC residents who donâ€™t seem to mind quite as much - the rats."

Dozens of floors burned in the China Telecom building in the city of Changsha, the capital of central Hunan province. The cityâ€™s fire department said it sent 280 firefighters who were able to quickly extinguish the blaze on the 720-footbuilding. 

No injuries or deaths have been reported, China Telecom said in a statement. It said there was no disruption to cellphone service, but social media users complained of being unable to use their phones. 

Videos of the blaze showed one side of the building scorched black, with debris falling to the ground. Other videos from local media showed workers inside managing to evacuate the building. BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Heartbreaking video posted to social media shows massive flames from a wildfire as it approached a mobile home in Vernon Parish Thursday night. The man who took the video identified it as his sister’s home located in Evans, Louisiana.

Despite the intense flames, the family tells KPLC-TV in Lake Charles that the home was spared. However, the home’s siding was melted, and the sewer and water lines were damaged.

Red Air Flight 203 from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, had landed around 5:30 p.m. when the landing gear in the nose of the plane collapsed, Miami International Airport officials said.

TOKYO, Jan 2 (Reuters) - All 379 people aboard a Japan Airlines (JAL) plane escaped the burning airliner after a collision with a Coast Guard aircraft at Tokyo's Haneda airport that killed five of six crew on the smaller craft on Tuesday. Live footage on public broadcaster NHK showed the JAL (9201.T) Airbus (AIR.PA) A350 airliner burst into flames as it skidded down the tarmac shortly before 6 p.m. (0900 GMT). "I felt a boom like we had hit something and jerked upward the moment we landed," a passenger told Kyodo news agency. "I saw sparks outside the window and the cabin filled with gas and smoke." All 367 passengers and 12 crew were evacuated from the blaze which destroyed the airliner. At least 17 people on it were injured, NHK reported, citing the Tokyo Fire Department. Transport Minister Tetsuo Saito confirmed that five of the Coast Guard aircraft's crew had died while the captain of the plane had been injured.
