"A driver led officers on a chase through north Charlotte Thursday morning, driving up sidewalks, over curbs and through the Channel 9 studio's front lawn.
Troopers said the suspect took off when they tried to stop him for not wearing a seat belt around 10 a.m. They said he was driving on Newland Road, near LaSalle Street, and sped away.
When the officer got behind the SUV and checked the license plate, he realized it was stolen, officials said.
