Texas police fatally shot a 15-year-old boy as he was leaving a house party with four other teens in a suburb outside Dallas, authorities said Sunday. The boy, later identified by his family as Jordan Edwards, got into a car with several other teens to head out after a party in Balch Springs on Saturday night when an officer fired multiple shots at the vehicle — one of which was fatal to Edwards. According to police, the officer was responding to a call about drunk kids walking around, and said the vehicle was “backing down the street towards the officers in an aggressive manner.†According to the family’s attorney the car, filled with five teenage boys, was trying to maneuver out of a parking spot when a person “appearing to be an officer†shouted profanity at them while shining a flashlight and “before the driver could respond the unidentified police officer fired multiple shots at the vehicle.†Edwards was a straight “A†freshman at Mesquite High School and student-athlete who was loved by his family and peers alike.
